Cadet in the Indian Pacific

Farstad Shipping (Indian Pacific) Pty Ltd is committed to training up capable men and women through our traineeship/cadetship program. The objective of this program is to ensure that our fleet is constantly manned with seafarers who are more than prepared to successfully meet the growing demands within the offshore industry.

We have a rigorous process in selecting a fixed number of candidates to undergo the Farstad Shipping (Indian Pacific) Pty Ltd traineeship/cadetship program with the different RTOs/institutes (Challenger Institute, Australian Maritime College & Hunter Institute) available country-wide in Australia. This program is comprised of two components: a college component and a sea service component. The college time provides trainees/cadets to gain a theoretical understanding of the key competencies; whilst the sea component allows trainees/cadets to obtain “on the job” training.

For our traineeship/cadetship program, we sponsor those who have the drive to becoming:

• Deck Watchkeepers
• Engineer Watchkeepers (Motor)
• Integrated Ratings

There are a number of different pathways available; further information about the various pathways available to those who may have existing maritime experience or have come from the Royal Australian Navy, please refer to the AMSA website and in particular the AMSA guidance document regarding pathways for deck and engineering officers, and Integrated Ratings. You can also visit Careers at Sea website for more information on the career pathways.
